Best AI Rank Tracking Tools in 2026
Best AI rank tracking tools for 2026: which trackers show real position vs. presence across AI Overviews and ChatGPT. Verified, dated pricing.
On this page
The best AI rank tracking tools in 2026 split into two groups: classic rank trackers that added AI Overview and AI Mode tracking to the keyword tracking you already run (Ahrefs, Nightwatch, AccuRanker, Semrush Position Tracking, SE Ranking, Nozzle), and prompt-level trackers that record whether AI engines cite you for tracked prompts (Profound, Otterly.ai, LLMrefs). This post covers the rank and position lens only: where you stand for specific keywords and prompts. If your real question is brand share of voice and sentiment across AI answers, our best AI visibility tools guide covers that category. Everything below comes from vendor pricing pages and documentation dated July 7, 2026, not a hands-on trial.
What Is an AI Rank Tracker? (And What It Isn't)
An AI rank tracker records position or ordinal presence for specific keywords or prompts across AI search surfaces. For Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, that means whether a tracked keyword triggers an AI answer, whether your site is cited inside it, and in some tools where. For chat engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity, it means whether a tracked prompt's answer cites you at all, because a prose answer carries no ranked list.
That scope excludes a neighboring category most roundups blend in. Brand-visibility tools measure mention frequency, sentiment, and citation-source share across your entire brand footprint: the lens where a tool like Peec AI lives, and where Profound and Otterly.ai show their fuller feature sets. If you are asking "how visible is my brand in AI answers," read the best AI visibility tools guide instead. For the wider map of everything sold as an AI SEO tool, the best AI SEO tools roundup draws the full taxonomy.
Most AI rank tracker tools in this comparison are not new products. They are rank trackers you already know, with AI tracking added on very different commercial terms, plus a smaller prompt-level group. This post compares both, in that order.
Why "Rank" in an AI Overview Isn't a Stable Position
Two of the five top-ranking pages for this query, published on Nightwatch's and WebFX's own blogs (both fetched July 7, 2026), claim there are no rankings in AI search at all, only mentions or silence. That is half right. A ChatGPT or Perplexity prose answer has no ordinal position: your brand is present or absent, and the same prompt can produce a different answer on the next run. Our best ChatGPT SEO tools guide covers that non-determinism mechanic in depth.
Google AI Overviews are different. An AI Overview is a block on a results page, and blocks have positions. Ahrefs studied 10 million SERPs containing AI Overviews (1 million per country across 10 countries, analyzed by data scientist Xibeijia Guan, published July 18, 2025) and found 8.64% of AI Overviews appear outside position #1 on the page, as low as position #6, with Japan and Spain showing slightly higher rates (ahrefs.com/blog/ai-overviews-positions, accessed July 7, 2026). So an AI Overview position is real. It is also unstable enough that a single snapshot misleads.
Vendors then disagree on how to score it. Semrush's documentation states that when your domain is cited as a source in an AI Overview, "Position Tracking records this as a #1 ranking," with no sub-position and no tie to where your page sits in the organic results below (semrush.com/kb/1435-ai-overview, accessed July 7, 2026). Every citation counts the same as a top organic spot. A tracker built that way reports a friendlier picture than one recording where the block itself sits. When two tools show different AI rankings for the same keyword, this measurement gap is usually why, and none of the five competing roundups mentions it.
How We Picked and Evaluated These Tools
Start with what this comparison is not. We ran no hands-on trial of these tools, and nothing below pretends otherwise. Every price, feature, and limit traces to the vendor's own pricing page or documentation, fetched and dated July 7, 2026, or to a named third-party source flagged as exactly that. No invented scores, no star ratings.
The pattern across this SERP makes that worth stating plainly. Of the five top-ranking roundups for this query, three are published by tool vendors that place their own product first: Rankability, Omnia, and Nightwatch (all fetched July 7, 2026). Rankability at least discloses that the top pick is its own platform, then still ranks itself #1. Our version goes further: MissionGrowth appears once, last, labeled as ours, capability statement only.
Primary-source discipline also caught what aggregator-built lists miss. For 2 of the 10 third-party tools here (20%), we could not confirm pricing from the vendor's own page: Nozzle prices by usage with no fixed dollar table, and Wincher's page surfaces no confirmed figure while third-party sites contradict each other. Competing roundups print one confident number for both anyway. We flag the gap instead, and we treat Semrush's plan-name drift the same way (its AI Mode beta announcement references Guru and Business plans; its current pricing page lists SEO, Starter, Pro+, and Advanced). We write this blog on an answer-first, gap-analysis editorial process, running SERP and AI-answer gap analysis before writing a word. The gap in this SERP was sourcing.
The Best AI Rank Tracking Tools in 2026
Eleven tools: seven classic rank trackers (one of which, Wincher, has no AI feature yet), three prompt-level trackers, and MissionGrowth, ours, disclosed and listed last. Prices checked July 7, 2026; this category changes tiers often, so confirm on the vendor's page before buying.

Ahrefs (Rank Tracker + Site Explorer)
Ahrefs treats AI Overview tracking as core functionality. Site Explorer's Organic Keywords report carries an AI Overview SERP-feature filter, Rank Tracker alerts you when keywords newly win an AI Overview citation, and a dedicated checkbox surfaces historical citation trends, per Ahrefs' own guide (ahrefs.com/blog/how-to-track-ai-overviews, published January 26, 2026). Cross-engine brand monitoring is routed to Brand Radar, a separate $398-699/mo product. One caveat: Ahrefs' pricing page did not return a full price table on our July 7, 2026 fetch, so the Lite figure of roughly $129/mo (about $108/mo annual) comes from aggregated pricing-tracker sites, not Ahrefs' own page. Ahrefs also published the 8.64% position-instability study cited above, which no other vendor here can claim.
Best for: existing Ahrefs users who want AI Overview coverage with no extra line item.
Nightwatch
Nightwatch documents the cleanest split in this list between core AI Overview tracking and separate chat-engine tracking. AI Mode and AI Overview are standard SERP features in every paid tier across Google, YouTube, and Bing: Starter EUR 79/mo (500 keywords), Professional EUR 159/mo (2,500), Agency EUR 399/mo (7,500), Enterprise custom from 20,000, per nightwatch.io/pricing (accessed July 7, 2026). A distinct AI Tracking capability handles cross-engine chat citations (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity) with its own allocations, 50 to 500 monthly AI prompts depending on plan. You know exactly which product does which job, which is rarer in this category than it should be.
Best for: teams that want AI Overview and AI Mode tracking bundled at a mid-market price.
AccuRanker
AccuRanker prices by keyword capacity with unlimited users and domains on every tier: Professional $224/mo (2,000-5,000 keywords), Expert $764/mo (10,000-25,000), Enterprise custom above 25,000, with a 10% annual discount and no free trial, per accuranker.com/pricing (accessed July 7, 2026). It runs on-demand rank checks instead of a fixed daily refresh. On AI coverage, precision matters: a published third-party pricing review states the base plan bundles partial Google AI Overview tracking at no extra cost, with coverage narrower than dedicated AI tracking (nextgrowth.ai/accuranker-pricing-review, accessed July 7, 2026). That is the reviewer's claim, not AccuRanker's own copy. The fuller offering is AccuLLM, a separate product tracking ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overview, and AI Mode visibility, sentiment, and sources.
Best for: agencies that need high keyword volumes and unlimited seats, pricing AccuLLM separately for chat engines.
Semrush (Position Tracking)
Semrush added AI Mode tracking directly into Position Tracking, its classic rank tracker, as a beta with real constraints: limited to the two highest-named plans, capped at 50 AI Mode keywords per account, US market only, desktop only, no traffic or volume estimates yet (semrush.com/news/415027-track-ai-mode-in-position-tracking, accessed July 7, 2026). A naming wrinkle: that announcement references Guru and Business plans, while the current pricing page lists SEO $117.33/mo, Starter $165.17/mo, Pro+ $248.17/mo, and Advanced $455.67/mo on annual billing (semrush.com/prices, accessed July 7, 2026), so verify which tier carries the beta before buying. The bigger finding is the scoring method covered earlier: any AI Overview citation is recorded as a flat #1, per Semrush's own KB. This is a different product from the $99/mo AI Visibility Toolkit add-on, which belongs in the visibility category.
Best for: top-tier Semrush accounts that want early AI Mode data inside an existing workflow.
SE Ranking
SE Ranking markets AI tracking across three separately branded product pages that never reference each other, a buyer-confusion pattern no competing roundup names. A dedicated AI Overviews Tracker page tracks AI Overview presence and where your site ranks within them, analyzes source domains, and offers five free checks daily (seranking.com/ai-overviews-tracker.html, accessed July 7, 2026). An AI Search add-on costs $71.20-89/mo on top of base plans: Core $103.20/mo annually ($129 monthly), Growth $223.20/mo annually ($279 monthly), per seranking.com/subscription.html (accessed July 7, 2026). And a separate ChatGPT Visibility Tracker page shows no price at all. The capability is broad. The packaging makes you do the map-reading.
Best for: SE Ranking subscribers willing to add $71.20-89/mo, after confirming which product they are buying.
Nozzle
Nozzle is the enterprise option: full-SERP data capture rather than top-10 snapshots, BigQuery export on every plan, unlimited competitor tracking, with Mayo Clinic and Home Depot cited on its site. Its blog confirms AI Overview Result Tracking as a shipped feature (nozzle.io/blog/monitoring-ai-overviews-in-nozzle, accessed July 7, 2026). Pricing is the catch: the pricing page shows no fixed dollar tiers, pricing by usage per SERP pull through a calculator, and third-party aggregators cite numbers that differ by roughly 10x. We will not print a number we cannot confirm. Budget for a scoping conversation, not a checkout page.
Best for: data teams that want raw full-SERP and AI Overview data in a warehouse.
Wincher
Wincher carries a reputation as the budget pick among classic trackers, and it is the one tool here with no AI-surface tracking at all: our July 7, 2026 check of its pricing and marketing pages found no AI Overview, AI Mode, or AI search feature anywhere. Its pricing page lists Starter (from 500 keywords), Professional (from 1,000), and Agency (from 5,000) but surfaces no confirmed dollar figure, and third-party sources contradict each other, citing both a $14.95/mo entry point and a EUR 49/mo Basic tier (wincher.com/pricing, accessed July 7, 2026). Both gaps are flagged here rather than papered over.
Best for: keyword-only tracking on a small budget, with zero AI requirements.
Profound
Profound is a prompt-level citation tracker, not a Google AI Overview position tool. Its Starter tier ($99/mo, billed yearly) tracks ChatGPT only; Growth ($399/mo) adds Perplexity and Google AI Overviews; Enterprise (custom) reaches up to 10 platforms, per tryprofound.com/pricing (accessed July 7, 2026). The full profile, including its brand-monitoring depth, lives in our AI visibility tools comparison.
Best for: brand teams extending rank tracking into prompt-level citation coverage.
Otterly.ai
Otterly.ai is the lowest-cost dedicated prompt-level tracker here. The Lite tier ($29/mo, 15 prompts) covers four engines from entry: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Microsoft Copilot, per otterly.ai/pricing (accessed July 7, 2026). As with Profound, the deeper brand-visibility breakdown belongs in the AI visibility tools guide.
Best for: solo founders testing prompt-level tracking before committing real budget.
LLMrefs
LLMrefs runs one flat plan: $79/mo for 500 tracked prompts across 11 AI platforms, with a 7-day free trial, per llmrefs.com/pricing (accessed July 7, 2026). It bundles an llms.txt generator and an AI-crawlability checker into the same subscription, which no other tracker here does. We ship a free llms.txt checker ourselves, so you can validate an existing file in the browser before generating a new one. Simplest pricing story in the table.
Best for: teams that want prompt tracking plus llms.txt tooling at one flat price.
MissionGrowth
Disclosure: MissionGrowth is our product, and it sits last in this list on purpose.
MissionGrowth is not a standalone rank-tracking SaaS. It is a multi-agent AI growth platform, and AI-citation and visibility tracking is one module inside a broader workflow covering content, technical SEO, and competitor intelligence. Our platform tracks AI citations and visibility for customers as part of that workflow. We publish no self-serve price because engagements are scoped per account, and we quote no aggregate performance dataset for this capability because none exists yet that we would stand behind. If you want a dashboard to run yourself, pick from the tools above.
Best for: teams that want AI-visibility monitoring bundled with execution rather than another dashboard to manage.
AI Overview Tracking: Bundled Free, Beta-Gated, Paid Add-on, or Missing
Google AI Overview rank tracking sounds like a single feature. Across the seven classic trackers above it ships in four commercial shapes, and a flat "tracks AI Overviews" checkmark hides the difference between free and an extra $89 a month.
Only 2 of the 7 classic trackers (29%) bundle AI Overview or AI Mode tracking into every paid tier with no separate line item: Ahrefs and Nightwatch. The rest split four ways:
- Beta-gated (1 of 7): Semrush limits AI Mode tracking to a beta on its two highest-named plans, 50 keywords, US desktop only.
- Paid add-on (1 of 7): SE Ranking charges $71.20-89/mo on top of a Core or Growth subscription.
- Partial or unverified (2 of 7): AccuRanker's bundled coverage is described as partial by a third-party review, with fuller tracking in its separate AccuLLM product; Nozzle's feature is confirmed shipped, but its usage-based pricing could not be verified from its own page.
- Not offered (1 of 7): Wincher has no AI-surface tracking at all as of July 7, 2026.
When you compare AI rank tracking software, bundling status moves your real cost more than the base subscription does. SE Ranking Core at $103.20/mo plus the add-on lands near an AccuRanker-class bill, while Nightwatch Starter at EUR 79/mo already includes coverage. Read the tier and the add-on list, not the checkbox.
Classic Rank Tracker or Prompt-Level AI-Answer Tracker: Which Do You Need?
Match your situation to one of four paths before spending anything:
- You already pay for a classic tracker, and Google AI Overviews are the only AI surface you care about. Check the bundling section first: you may already own an AI Overview rank tracker, or need one add-on rather than a new vendor.
- You need prompt-level citation data across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini too. The prompt-level group here is a starting point; the full cross-engine comparison lives in our best LLM SEO tools guide.
- You need brand-wide sentiment and share of voice, not keyword-level position. Wrong lens for this post: the best AI visibility tools guide compares that category properly.
- You want monitoring bundled with the execution work instead of one more dashboard. That is a build-versus-buy-versus-hire decision, and our AI SEO agency vs software guide walks the framework.
One more count before you budget: 2 of the 7 classic trackers (29%) place AI-answer coverage beyond Google AI Overviews in a second, separately branded product. SE Ranking sells a distinct ChatGPT Visibility Tracker with no listed price, and AccuRanker routes chat-engine tracking into its separate AccuLLM product. If chat engines matter to your team, price the second product before signing for the first.
