Best ChatGPT SEO & Tracking Tools in 2026
The best ChatGPT SEO tools compared by real 2026 prices and which entry tiers actually gate to ChatGPT alone. A public-record buyer's guide, no hype.

On this page
The best ChatGPT SEO tools split into two groups that matter more than any ranked list: tools whose entry tier gates you to ChatGPT alone (Profound's Starter plan, Surfer's AI Tracker tiers, SE Ranking's dedicated ChatGPT Visibility Tracker) and cross-engine trackers that bundle ChatGPT with three or more AI engines in total from the first dollar (Otterly.ai, AIclicks, Athena, LLMrefs, Ahrefs Brand Radar). Which group you want turns on one question: is ChatGPT genuinely your only priority right now, or are you already watching Perplexity and Google AI Overviews too? This comparison comes from each vendor's public pricing pages and documentation as of July 7, 2026, not a hands-on trial, for reasons the methodology section explains. For the full cross-engine picture, our best LLM SEO tools guide covers all four tool categories.
ChatGPT SEO Tools vs. LLM SEO Tools: What's Actually Different Here
A general LLM SEO tool tracks your brand across every AI answer engine at once: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews, Copilot, sometimes Grok and Claude. A ChatGPT SEO tool narrows that to one engine, which changes both the price and the tracking mechanics.
Our best LLM SEO tools guide sorts the broad market into four categories across 11 tools and every engine. This post does not repeat that framework. It asks two ChatGPT-specific questions: which tools' entry tier is literally ChatGPT-only versus bundles ChatGPT with engines you cannot separate, and why ChatGPT's answers about your brand shift run to run in ways Perplexity's and Gemini's do not. If you already need multi-engine coverage, read that cross-engine guide instead.
Why ChatGPT Gives Different Answers to the Same Brand Question
Ask ChatGPT "what are the best payroll tools" twice and you can get two different lists, your brand in one and absent from the other. That is not a fault in the tracking tool. It is how ChatGPT works, and four factors drive it.
Memory and chat history. On April 10, 2025, OpenAI expanded ChatGPT's Memory feature so that, beyond facts you explicitly save, ChatGPT references your full past chat history to personalize answers (per help.openai.com/en/articles/8590148-memory-faq and openai.com/index/memory-and-new-controls-for-chatgpt, both accessed July 7, 2026). A logged-in account with months of payroll-software chats gets a different answer than a logged-out session with no history. You can turn Memory off in Settings or use Temporary Chat, which is why credible testing happens logged out.
The web-browsing toggle. ChatGPT can answer from training data alone or pull live web results, and the two paths surface different brands. Ahrefs' guide to monitoring ChatGPT mentions (published February 26, 2026) calls this retrieval-augmented generation: ChatGPT blends training with live fetches, so a brand that ranks well live can appear in a browsing answer and vanish from a training-only one. We saw the crawlability side firsthand: we moved our own marketing pages from a React single-page app to prerendered static HTML because AI crawlers do not execute JavaScript.
Geography and locale. The same prompt returns different brands by country and language, per Omnia's ChatGPT rank-tracking guide (useomnia.com, accessed July 7, 2026), which is why locale is a tracking setting.
Model version and run-to-run sampling. ChatGPT's output is non-deterministic. Ahrefs puts it bluntly: run the same prompt twice and you get totally different answers. That is why Omnia, the one competitor page in this SERP with a named method, samples each prompt 3 to 10 times and tracks the distribution of mentions.
Together, these are why a ChatGPT visibility tracker worth paying for runs each prompt many times, logged out, with locale controls, and reports a mention rate, not a yes-or-no from one run.
How We Picked and Evaluated These Tools
Here is the method, stated plainly, because this SERP mostly hides it. We did not run a hands-on trial of these ten third-party tools. Every price, tier, and platform count below comes from the vendor's own pricing page or documentation, accessed July 7, 2026, with the source named next to the claim. We assigned no star ratings and invented no scores. Where a vendor publishes no price, we say so.
One more boundary before the list: this comparison covers tracking and visibility tools only, software that measures whether ChatGPT mentions your brand, not ChatGPT-native execution tools like AIPRM, HARPA, and GPT Store apps. Those tools improve how you prompt and work inside ChatGPT; they do not measure whether it mentions you.
That answers what the top-ranking "ChatGPT rank tracker" and "best ChatGPT SEO tool" pages do. We reviewed five on July 7, 2026 (useomnia.com, ahrefs.com, capston.ai, aiclicks.io, verbatimdigital.com). Every commercial one ranked its own publisher's tool first, from Omnia ranking Omnia to AIclicks' own head of growth ranking AIclicks number one, and none carried a conflict-of-interest line. Capston AI is the only page with a "How We Tested" section, yet it discloses no prompt count, no logged-in-versus-logged-out state, no Memory setting, and no web-browsing toggle, so the claim cannot be reproduced.
We run this blog on an answer-first, gap-analysis editorial process: study what current AI answers and top results leave out, then fill those gaps with sourced facts. Nobody here maps which entry tiers are genuinely ChatGPT-only, cites a primary source for why ChatGPT's answers vary, or discloses their own placement. A comparison you can audit line by line beats a "tested" claim you take on faith.
The Best ChatGPT SEO & Tracking Tools in 2026
The table lists all eleven tools in gating order, genuinely ChatGPT-only first, with MissionGrowth last and disclosed.
Pricing checked July 7, 2026. These tools change tiers often, so confirm current pricing before you buy.
| Tool | ChatGPT coverage at entry tier | Entry price (verified) | Full multi-engine price | Best for |

| SE Ranking ChatGPT Visibility Tracker | Dedicated ChatGPT-only product | Not published (free trial) | Not published | A purpose-built ChatGPT tracker |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | Bundled, no unbundle option | $398/mo (Select platforms) | $699/mo (All platforms) | Existing Ahrefs users, large prompt sets |
| Otterly.ai | Bundled from entry (4 engines) | $29/mo (Lite) | $489/mo (Premium) | Budget start across four engines |

| LLMrefs | Bundled, single flat tier (11 platforms) | $79/mo flat | N/A (single tier) | Tracking plus llms.txt in one price |
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | Unclear at entry (engine list unpublished) | $99/mo add-on (needs paid Semrush) | +$99/mo per domain; +$60/mo per 50 prompts | Existing Semrush customers |
| MissionGrowth | Disclosed self-placement (managed) | Engagement-based (not self-serve) | Not applicable (service model) | Monitoring bundled with execution |
Profound
Profound's pricing shows this gating cleanly. Starter ($99/mo, billed yearly) tracks ChatGPT only; Growth ($399/mo) adds Perplexity and Google AI Overviews for three engines; Enterprise (custom) reaches up to 10 platforms, per tryprofound.com/pricing (accessed July 7, 2026). Add a second engine and the price roughly quadruples, so Starter suits you only if you are genuinely ChatGPT-first.
Best for: brands wanting a ChatGPT-only start who will pay to add engines later.
Surfer SEO (AI Tracker)
Surfer is a content-optimization platform with an AI Tracker inside paid tiers, so ChatGPT tracking rides along with a tool you buy for content anyway. The tracker covers ChatGPT only on Standard ($99/mo, 25 ChatGPT prompts per week) and Pro ($182/mo, 50 prompts per day); all AI models need the $299/mo Peace of Mind tier, per surferseo.com/pricing (accessed July 7, 2026). As a standalone ChatGPT tracking tool it is thin, but Surfer teams pay nothing extra for it.
Best for: content teams already on Surfer who want light ChatGPT tracking.
SE Ranking ChatGPT Visibility Tracker
This is the only product here built specifically for ChatGPT, not a multi-engine tool with a ChatGPT checkbox. SE Ranking publishes a standalone ChatGPT Visibility Tracker page, separate from its AI Overviews Tracker and AI Mode Tracker, calling it one of the first tools built for the job, per seranking.com/chatgpt-visibility-tracker.html (accessed July 7, 2026). The catch: no tiers, no prices, only a free-trial CTA with no credit card. The most ChatGPT-scoped tool on the market is one you cannot price without a trial. Treat its cost as unverified.
Best for: teams wanting a purpose-built ChatGPT visibility tracker, willing to trial it for the price.
Ahrefs Brand Radar
Brand Radar is where "tracks ChatGPT" hides a bundling trap. Its Select platforms tier ($398/mo) is a fixed bundle of five engines (Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini); you cannot buy ChatGPT alone. All platforms ($699/mo) adds Grok and advertises 413M+ prompts, per ahrefs.com/brand-radar (accessed July 7, 2026). Want only ChatGPT? You pay for four engines you did not ask for.
Best for: larger brands and Ahrefs users who want deep, high-volume coverage.
Otterly.ai
Otterly's Lite tier ($29/mo, 15 prompts) is one of the cheapest real entry points, bundling ChatGPT from the first dollar with Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Microsoft Copilot. Claude, Google AI Mode, and Gemini are paid add-ons on Standard ($189/mo) and Premium ($489/mo), per otterly.ai/pricing (accessed July 7, 2026). There is no ChatGPT-only option because ChatGPT sits in the base tier.
Best for: solo founders wanting ChatGPT plus three engines at the lowest entry price.
AIclicks
AIclicks markets 10+ platforms, but Starter ($59/mo) covers 30 prompts across three LLMs, ChatGPT included, with a 3-day trial. Pro ($189/mo) and Business ($499/mo) widen coverage, per aiclicks.io/pricing (accessed July 7, 2026). Note from our SERP review: AIclicks' own head of growth authored a roundup ranking AIclicks first, so weigh third-party praise accordingly.
Best for: budget teams wanting multi-platform mention tracking, starting on three engines.
Athena (AthenaHQ)
Athena is the one tool here that watches ChatGPT for free. Essential (free, 300 credits) covers five platforms including ChatGPT; Starter ($295/mo) opens up all nine, adding Claude, Grok, and the rest, per athenahq.ai/pricing (accessed July 7, 2026). The jump from free to $295 is steep with nothing between, so Athena works as a free trial of ChatGPT visibility or a committed paid tool.
Best for: teams wanting to watch ChatGPT free before paying for full coverage.
Peec AI
Peec AI tracks ChatGPT among six engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Copilot, AI Overviews), aimed at marketing teams and agencies. The catch for a price comparison: its pricing page (accessed July 7, 2026) publishes no tier numbers. Starter, Pro, and Advanced exist by name, Enterprise routes to "Talk to Sales." Any Peec AI price quoted elsewhere is unverified until it appears on Peec's own page.
Best for: agencies wanting broad coverage who will book a call for a quote.
LLMrefs
LLMrefs runs a single flat plan: $79/mo for 500 tracked prompts across 11 AI engines including ChatGPT, with a 7-day trial, per llmrefs.com/pricing (accessed July 7, 2026). No tiers gate ChatGPT, so the ChatGPT-only question does not apply. It also bundles an llms.txt generator and an AI-crawlability checker, features most trackers price separately. To validate an existing llms.txt file first, our free llms.txt checker does it in the browser.
Best for: teams wanting ChatGPT tracking plus llms.txt tooling at one flat price.
Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit
Semrush's toolkit is an add-on, not a standalone ChatGPT tracking software product, and its entry is the murkiest here. The $99/mo tier covers one domain, 300 daily AI-analysis queries, and 25 tracked prompts, and needs a paid Semrush plan underneath, per semrush.com/pricing/ai (accessed July 7, 2026). Extra domains add $99/mo each; 50 more prompts cost $60/mo. The gap we could not close: Semrush does not publish which engines the $99 tier includes, so we cannot confirm whether ChatGPT is in entry or gated higher.
Best for: teams already paying for Semrush who want AI tracking in one login.
MissionGrowth
Disclosure: MissionGrowth is our product. We list it last because it belongs to a different category than the self-serve trackers above, and leaving it out of a comparison built on disclosure would be dishonest.
MissionGrowth is not a standalone ChatGPT tracking tool you run yourself. Our platform tracks AI citations and visibility for customers, including ChatGPT, as one module inside a broader multi-agent growth workflow that also handles content, technical fixes, and reporting. We publish no self-serve price, because engagements are scoped per account, and we have no aggregate visibility-lift dataset to quote yet, so we will not invent one.
Best for: teams wanting AI-visibility monitoring bundled with execution, not a dashboard to run solo.
ChatGPT-Only, Bundled, or Cross-Engine: Which Entry Tier Actually Locks You to ChatGPT
Every page in this SERP lists "tracks ChatGPT" as a flat checkbox. The buying decision hides one level down, in how each tool's entry tier handles ChatGPT. Sorting our eleven tools three ways makes the choice obvious.
Among these ChatGPT tracking tools, by our count only 3 of the 11 gate their entry tier to ChatGPT alone: Profound's Starter plan, Surfer's AI Tracker tiers, and SE Ranking's dedicated ChatGPT Visibility Tracker. That is the clearest, and least reported, fact in this market. Of the other eight, five bundle ChatGPT with three or more engines in total from the first dollar (Otterly.ai, AIclicks, Athena, Peec AI, and LLMrefs), Ahrefs Brand Radar bundles ChatGPT but refuses to let you isolate it, Semrush does not publish its entry-tier engine list, and MissionGrowth is a managed service with no self-serve tier to gate.
- Genuinely ChatGPT-only at entry: Profound Starter ($99/mo), Surfer Standard and Pro ($99 and $182/mo), and SE Ranking's dedicated tracker (price unpublished). You pay for one engine and nothing else.
- Bundled with no unbundle option: Ahrefs Brand Radar Select platforms ($398/mo). ChatGPT is in the bundle, but the bundle is fixed at five engines.
- Multi-engine from day one: Otterly Lite, Athena Essential, LLMrefs, and AIclicks Starter bundle ChatGPT with three to eleven engines in total from their first (or free) tier.
A second number from the same table is worth flagging. Of the ten third-party tools, only eight publish a verifiable entry price, and the two that do not (SE Ranking and Peec AI) include the one product built specifically for ChatGPT. The most ChatGPT-scoped tool in the market is also one you cannot price without a trial.
So which do you buy? If ChatGPT is genuinely your only priority, say it is your top AI referrer, a ChatGPT-only entry tier is cheaper than paying for engines you are not ready to track. The caveat: most brands outgrow single-engine tracking within a quarter as Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews traffic grows, so a $99 ChatGPT-only plan that becomes a $399 three-engine plan in ninety days is a switching cost, not a saving. If you already see that traffic in your referrers, start with a bundled tool. For the metrics side, our AI search analytics guide covers the KPIs and reporting stack to build around whichever tool you pick.
Track ChatGPT Mentions for Free (Manual Method)
You do not need a paid tool for a first read on how ChatGPT talks about your brand. Open ChatGPT logged out or in an incognito window (to strip out Memory and chat-history personalization), ask the questions a real buyer would ask in your category, and run each phrasing several times to see how often your brand appears. Ahrefs' guide to monitoring ChatGPT mentions (published February 26, 2026) recommends testing logged out with three to five prompt-phrasing variations per intent angle, because ChatGPT's answers shift run to run. For the full step-by-step, see our guide on how to track ChatGPT brand mentions. The manual method will not scale past a handful of prompts, but it confirms you have a problem before you pay to measure it.
